STILSOUND

A dynamic hifi concept designed to be an ambassador of sustainable manufacturing methods.

STILSOUND presents a stand that functions as both a dock and an amplifier for a detachable wireless speaker, offering a seamless, high-fidelity listening experience with optional wired connectivity while retaining the potential for wireless convenience.  At the core of this concept is the belief that ground-breaking manufacturing methods, especially sustainable supplier-side innovations, only realize their full potential when matched with equally intentional design, not only being inspired rather deconstructing the DNA and incorporating the manufacturing method fully.

Inspired by STILFOLD's 'industrial origami' technique, a innovative method which uses robotic folding to form efficient, low-waste metal structures. This project explores how industrial design can translate such innovations into compelling, consumer-ready experiences.

Rather than simply referencing the method, STILSOUND is shaped for it, its bold forms, intersecting planes, and purposeful structure are tailored to embrace and showcase the possibilities of folded steel. Through a deep respect for the prototyping process and exploration of the unique structures made possible by this method, the project demonstrates how strong design execution is key to bringing alternative manufacturing methods into public consciousness and unlocking their broader adoption.
