This master thesis addresses the space issue in compact living and results in a transformable kitchen chair that also can serve as a bench. The transformation into a bench offers additional seating when friends come over to visit.

In my research I looked closer on compact living, furniture in general, the chair especially, trends, influences from the furniture industry, carpentry and related subjects.

A big part of the project was the complex and creative way for me to find my own form language. Part of the process was to develop a custom hinge. Great care was taken for little details, matching of materials and communicative design language, using color and form to make the function intuitive.
