Cast iron, a material with an air of tradition that, with its good casting ability, has played an important role in the foundation of our society. I have through excursions and literature studied the properties and notion of cast iron. With the aspiration to expand and challenge the stagnate picture of the material. In order to point out aspects of longevity, re-usage, and complexity that can be created through the process of sand casting. This enables a small-scale production that can easily be conformed, altered and modified for individual requirements. Based on this study, several themes were created to work as a foundation for a collection of products, which reflects upon these attributes.
