ÖSTERLENTUREN

Jonna Backman

Österlenturen is a signposting concept focusing on what kind of information bicycle tourists want when travelling.

The intention of the project is getting Swedish people/tourists to stay and explore Sweden as a way of diminishing their impact on the environment. Bicycle vacationing is the ultimate way of ecotourism; you support both the environment, the local economy and the own well being.

The final result is a signposting concept divided into three parts; an orienting table, a map signpost and a homepage. The orienting table shows distance in both kilometer and minutes and has a system including both “service symbols” and “route information symbols” informing about for example foundation and slopes.

The signpost system is complemented with a sign with a map and explanation of all the symbols and bicycle routes in Swedish, English and German.

The concept is placed in Österlen since this area is very interesting from a bicycle tourism view and there for the project got it’s name: Österlenturen. The project also consists of a conceptual homepage where local companies can share information and where bicyclists can read about accommodation, food stores, restaurants, weather. Take a look at the homepage at www.osterlenturen.se
